MEET THE NIGERIAN PEN ARTIST

HOW POWERFUL IS THE PEN!

I was just going through my news feed on Facebook when I stumbled on the drawing of the Popular Rap star Olamide that was drawn with a pen.

I was wowed and wondered who did it. My love for arts know no bounds, and we have different people show casing their love for arts in diverse ways. Out of curiosity,

YOUR CUP OF TEA

One fateful Saturday morning, I woke up very early because of the bulkiness of the day’s itinerary. During the cause of the week, I had used many of my clothing’s and they are mostly virtually dirty. Laundry exercise promises to be tasking today since I could not afford to pay the laundry man the bill he proposed for the washing. There are dishes to be washed as well, and the routine cleaning of our

DON'T STOP BELIEVING

It was a very sunny Saturday morning, and our wedding anniversary. I looked at my wife as she got ready to leave the house for work. She is a doctor and had been on call today.

It seemed like yesterday she walked down the aisle to me. Wow! We are twenty-three years in marriage today. I smiled at her, she smiled back. We have this thing we do on our anniversary; its more like a friendly competition, we see who surprises whom with the best anniversary gift. She had won five years in a row; I was

YOU ARE A MODEL

I was just brooding over life experiences while sited at my desk some days ago and I stumbled on this amazing experience.

Growing up was fun in our suburb with my friend Ejiro amongst others. Ejiro and my brother Tommy are my two closest ally since way back.

Back then, late evening on Sundays, we do go for house caring fellowship in church. Our church is just a few kilometers away from our house. Service will however start around 4:30 pm, but we would have left home around 3:30 pm and obviously because of our agenda,

The year is rounding up quickly and the school authority has in the latest circular stated that the convocation ceremony is now slated for the 4th of November.

I have anticipated this day since my first day on this campus. Abike said to herself under her breath. Wearing a light blue crop top designed by one of her friends on a tight black jean perfectly revealing

YOUR MOTIVATION

I am always endeared to people who are most times like me, it’s simply the law of attraction in action.

Lemme share with you something’s about my Dad. While growing up as a kid, My Dad I observed everybody in the community will always want to associate with. When there is no light in the community probably because a pole fell somewhere, my Dads phone will ring over and over again and we would giggle in the corner of our room making jest of Dad that he is the Chairman even though he was never made one.

We were excited one Wednesday afternoon, we decided to check out what is happening on the streets of Ibadan.

We fueled the car ignited the engines and off we zoomed.

We practically agreed to visit top notch relaxation centers within the metropolis. On getting to Iwo road we stopped by at the famous restaurant. While other guys went inside to get some snacks I...

Dear Social media House/ Personality,

0NE CHANCE

In my country here, when you hear stuffs like one chance, it could mean a lot of things. But more often than not it used to be negative. But I will use the concept of one chance to drive home a critical point that is capable of making or marring each of us as an entity.

Sometimes ago, I wrote about how first impression can sometimes be wrong,

MY HIV TEST DRAMA

’The fear of knowing something’s sometimes kills faster than those things’ is the general assumption and predominant notion in town.

Permit me to share with you today my own personal "HIV TEST DRAMA".

Way back when I was an undergraduate, there has always been the advertisement rolling on several media about why everybody should know their HIV status. On several occasions we have had a team of medical experts doing the HIV screening on our campus. Myself and other friends will just deliberately by pass them and ignore their passionate call and beckoning to come and do the screening.

The truth however is that I had no cockroach in my cupboard, but

SHE SAID NO!

The sun rose very early on Wednesday and if Biola had not checked her watch, she would have assumed it was noon already. The much anticipated symposium was scheduled to kick off by 10:30 a.m.  It was already 7:25 a.m. by her time, so, Biola rose up quickly to have her routine 30minute devotion.

The guest speakers at the symposium were top business coaches in the country. Biola had always nursed a business idea and hence, couldnt just wait to meet them.

Biola rounded up her devotion in time, and quickly rushed her chores. In no time, she was done having her bath

SOME OF US

The other day after a powerful delivery at a seminar somewhere around town, one of the guest speakers who happened to be pretty older asked me a question;

Biyi, where do you see yourself in the next six years?".

I paused momentarily, wore a smile on my face and gave him answers. He ended up by saying "I pray all your aspirations come true."

DARKNESS

I woke up very early on Tuesday morning, said my morning prayers and next in line was the house chores.
While making up my mind on what to attend to first while still on my cozy bed, I heard the tune of my ring tone.

I wondered who was calling me this early on a Tuesday morning, but then I reached out to my phone which was some few meters away from my bed.

MANGO

I don't really like mango as a fruit, but I have friends who can eat them like their life depends on it.

After dealing with a mango fruit, if we take the inedible seed, dry it for a while and then bury it in the earth.Lets continue to irrigate it provided there is no rain and then ensure regular weeding.

Fast forward, in like some 8months the mango seed has now germinated into a mango tree whose canopy provides a pseudo-shade on a hot afternoon.

Talent is enough! hell NO.

I was born in a country that prides herself as the giant of her continent. Perhaps the most populated in the continent with an estimated population of about 186million people as at January 2016. 55.9% of this estimated population falls between the age of 15 and 64 years old (countrymeters.info/en/Nigeria).

In Nigeria, there are lots and loads of fantastic, absolutely talented people in Music, public speaking, acting, comedy, writing, graphic designs, Fashion designs and many more.

Sometimes ago, while I was just walking on the street, there was this road side talent hunt that was being done, and I could not but just wait to listen to amazing sounds coming out of the buzzing speakers. Talented guys singing, drumming, rapping

REMINDER

It was time for that semester that everyone has always anticipated for from year one. Well the only thing that excites most of us is the fact that we will have to learn, but this time around compulsorily out of the class room.

Some of us like this kind of learning, the catch to it is also that no exams will be written for the next six month. Oh what an air of relief!
So we could ignore the fear of to which direction is the CGPA

A STUPID THING TO DO

From Average to Excellence:
Shocking revelations of the life of a young Nigerian Youth
(Part 1; Episode 2: A STUPID THING TO DO.)

Having introduced us to cogent details of the life of Macaulay, Babajide Milton, and this episode has been rightly titled a stupid thing to do. Together lets ride along with Babajide as he shares the story I titled “a stupid thing to do”.

I started SS1 at Mercy Model College and discovered that the school had many bright students, as I was not able to get into the top 10 in class. I wandered around the boarder of 10th position but often stayed-put at the 12th position. I maintained that comfortable position in a class of 43 students partly because I was the best student in Biology, perhaps because its pre-requisite (Integrated Science) came more naturally to me. One of the reasons for my inability to burst into the top 10 was

Shocking revelations of the life of a young Nigerian Youth (Part 1; Episode 1)

His name is Macaulay, Babajide Milton, a native of Obalende Local Government Area, Lagos Island, Nigeria. Yes, I know what you are thinking Why does he have so many English names? Emmits a long story that took place almost two centuries ago as the Patriarchs of the Macaulay family were slave trade returnees.

The Macaulay family is quite popular in Nigeria and has produced a number of National achievers such as Mr Babington Macaulay (who initiated the establishment of the first secondary school in Nigeria CMS Grammar school, Lagos); Sir Herbert Heelas Macaulay (the first Nigerian Nationalist whom you see on the one Naira coin) among others. Having read through the introductory lines, Im sure you would be saying to yourself; oh, he is from a royal and famous background; therefore, he should find it quite easy to obtain the great things of life. Contrary to this belief,
