LIVING YOUR DREAM (Part 1)

Often times, adults have come out complaining about how they could not be what they would have wanted to be in life.

A lot have come out to blame it on financial constraints but bulk of the blame have fallen on those trying to please their parents.

Fast forward to the present day youth and ask the same question and the answer you will get from majority of the youths is the fact that a lot of them are living their parents dream.

Investigations into why some adults have faltered in what they do showed that they never ventured into what they love. One step in being one of the best at your job is to love what you do no matter the pay at that moment.
That aside, citing an example of failures in the medical line, a large percentage of the failed and uncommitted doctors we have nowadays joined the profession because of the large salary but in most cases, those who have succumbs to their parents’ pressure to join the profession.
I once spoke to a medical doctor who cited an example of a family where the father and mother are both medical doctors and they insisted and ensured all four of their children studied medicine.
Three of these four never loved or wanted to be medical doctors but because of parental pressure, they had to succumb and follow their parents will. That also does not mean you should disobey your parents but laying down your life dreams and targets would go a long way in helping them understand.
Sometimes you ask yourself why some students fail in WAEC and UTME repeatedly. In some cases, it might be because some were not cut out for it or lack of seriousness at most instances, but most of them are in such predicaments because they fell to parental and peer pressure.
Because your best friend is going to science class does not mean you are science inclined.
Making reference to the movie “Beyond the Light”, a lot of people would be drawn away by the flair of the main act “Noni”, but forget to look into the message passed by the second main act “Kaz”. All through, he followed the dream of his Dad, being a police officer, having a clean record so he can venture into politics and run for senate in the near future.
All along, he never seemed to chase his dream. Though it took time, but he soon realised that wasn’t his dream.
Many a times, we see parents telling their children to go into a particular field or the other. Some have turned out to be parents trying to correct the mistakes they made growing up. They often times want to use the kids as a medium to show they were not complete failures.
The question then is, are you living your dream?

Do you love what you are doing now? Is it too late to start again?

Can I still make amends?

Will my parents buy into the idea?

As many questions that might be bothering your mind, join the series “LIVING YOUR DREAM”. At one point or the other, the real punch you need for that drive towards a greater tomorrow might just come up.

I AM A CARPENTERS SON

Most times, when we read of people who in times past have made it real big around the globe ,it looks so abstract and unrealistic to us. The more reason i love to read of stories I can relate with and pass the knowledge across to people around me.

Today i will be sharing a bit of my story and the moral is capable of transforming a life out there.

I was born during the times that things were indeed going well and blooming. Child wood was fun till things began to turn around.  But a singular choice made by a Carpenter and a fruit hawker has successfully raised hopes for my generation.
I had to attend a public senior secondary school when my parents could no longer afford to pay the bills anymore. And it really sucks when you are always sent home as a debtor (lol).
I felt bad about leaving a private school where i was a champion to one public school. But the public school I attended was  a science school and highly rated in town.
So i kept my heads high , filled with confidence and hope ready for the next phase of my life.
My Dad is a carpenter and since he lost his big workshop in a crisis sometimes ago, things have not really been going smoothly in terms of finances for us . My Mum is a petty trader , and she sells fruit which she has to hawk over some kilometers most times to argument the families income.
But my parents are an epitome of BEINGS with a Definite desire.
They are determined to do all they can to give us platform to be all we are designed to be.
Things are not always fantastic , sometimes i have to drink my garri with hope raised and confidence high because all i can see are better days ahead. I have refused to be deterred by the circumstances around my growing up.
I have inherited by choice many definite desires from my parents.

I have a define desires to be a voice to be reckon with in my generation, to be a blessing to everyone who will ever cross my path , to birth revolutionary ideas in Education, leadership and business.

I am on my way to being all I am designed to BE!

Challenges are temporal , you must approach them as such.

If the definite desire of my parents has given me the platforms of being all i am designed to be, coupled with the fact that i choose to utilize them and BE, then you must begin to utilize your opportunities to turn your story around for the best.

Nothing is big enough to hinder you from being all you are designed to be, all you need is a DEFINITE DESIRE TO BE!

I am still on my way , i will get there. YOU MUST BE TOO.

I LOVE YOU.

THE REPEATING STUDENT.

THE REPEATING STUDENT.

Three months gone since the whole general election brouhaha, a lot have been said about the outcome of the election.

Blames have been thrown at fellow party members and in some cases, party defectors have not escaped the hammer.
The ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and of course the opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have in the normal manners of political parties traded words. What has been a phenomenal  quality of opposition parties Is to counter the ruling party be it pointing out the mistakes or trying to tell the people what they need to soothe the pain caused by the government in power both boiling down to demeanour the power of the ruling party.
All this they do to further boost their chances of winning in the forthcoming election.
But this is just a quota of what need to be done to return to power. The grand step in winning an election is going to the drawing board and observing the reasons the previous election was lost.
The PDP as a party lost a reasonably large amount of positions in the last elections and in no time have become second fiddle to the APC as far as Nigerian politics is concerned. The question then is, what steps they are taking to correct the mistake?
Former President Goodluck Jonathan obviously lost the election because he fell out of love with Nigerians but what happened to the other electable posts nationwide where they lost to APC – the then opposition. At many points in the last election and obviously elections before that have the PDP elected to the imposition of candidates in the primaries.
A quick look at the two governorship elections that happened in the second half of 2014, Ekiti state election’s loss came as a surprise to the APC. The actions that followed this loss said a lot about the prospect of the party’s target. Falling back to the drawing board and considering the mistakes made in Ekiti was the obvious reason the party was able to fight back to win the Osun state election. The PDP in this case chose to follow the path of candidate imposition which have turned out to be a party custom.
The PDP never seemed to learn from their mistake. This same path was followed in the March/April general elections leading to why they lost a lot of their candidates. Nigerians would expect that at this stage, lessons would have been learnt but they seem to enjoy swimming in the same pool that drowned them in the last election with the Kogi and Bayelsa states governorship elections both close by. Rumours of candidate imposition already trickling in and yet the party is showing no signs of pushing for a change of their culture.
One thing on the mind of many Nigerians is the urge to see the PDP stand as a very strong opposition.

But being an opposition is not just about coming out to tackle the ruling party in the pages of the newspaper but regrouping and planning on how to return as the major force in the political stand of the nation. If there is nothing chasing you, the likelihood of running drops. Nigerians still want the PDP to checkmate the ruling party because one thing they know is ,the more the PDP push, the more the ruling party will push to fulfil their campaign promises.
Conclusively, the PDP in their drive to return to the helm of power should go back to the drawing board and analyse what, where, why and when it all went wrong. Hitting a dart board with the eagles eye not been the primary target means total waste of time. The reason for getting a 9-point mark and not a 10 if not taken note of and corrected would lead to hitting a 9 or less. The PDP not going back to the drawing board would put them back on the same spot they are now.

HOLY WATER MY PLACEBO

Growing up was quite fun in a moderate civilized area like ours. But then I was just ruminating on my past experiences as a teenager and I stumbled on this fascinating one which I believe is worth sharing.

Anyone of either the celestial, CAC or some other religious background or faith would be quite familiar with my PLACEBO.

Before we get confused, let me share this story;

While growing up, my mum used to go to mountains to pray and occasionally, she took us along. But every day she came back home with water in a gallon (what we call holy water).
And guess what!!! The water worked, YEA, IT DID!

I recollect some time ago during my SSCE days, I would drink this holy water before leaving house to write each exam paper.

Lo and behold, I passed and for subsequent examinations the story was the same.

Then one fateful day, I went to the mountain to pray. I got there early and peoples’ gallons were there which had to be filled before prayer commenced. I was chosen to follow the guys that did the filling of gallons.

Believe you me, when I got to the source of our ‘holy water’, I was left dumbfounded by the sight I beheld, of a stream whose source I had been familiar with while growing up. It was a stream with different levels of contamination!

I CRIED! This was my holy water!

‘How come I was never sick drinking this dirty water?’ This was the first question I asked myself;

how come its working?

The answer I got when I was more informed was simple.
The holy water was my PLACEBO.

The holy water I drank to the examination hall really did not have any particular way it made me recall anything if I had not read, it only ended up making me use the rest room two or more times before leaving the exam hall.

BUT I believed it made me more efficient and I got results.

Let me define what a PLACEBO is according to a dictionary.

"A PLACEBO is anything of no real benefit which nevertheless makes people feels better".

Thus for me the HOLY WATER WAS A PLACEBO and I got results!

Now it’s important for you to think about your memorable days, when you feel accomplished, in control and well organized. You might want to record that somewhere, a note pad or anything.

CREATE YOUR OWN PLACEBO - take the productive parts of your week and turn them into a reality every day.

MAKE YOUR OWN PLACEBO!

THE FOUR LOVES CUM THE CONSTITUENTS OF LOVE

THE LOVE SERIES CONT::

Having already established the Fact that love is a Command from the creator, it is imperative to take a bolder step into considering what i call the FOUR LOVES AND THERE CONSTITUENTS.

The four loves have there origin from the Greeks. They defined love in four succinct ways.
We shall be taking a close look at them one after the other.

1) STORGE :- This according to the Greeks is otherwise know as the "empathy bond" . This is love , that is the love for an individual through the fondness of Familiarity . Family members or people who relate together in familiar way exhibit this kind of Love

2) PHILIA :- According to the Greeks is love between friends who are so close that at first sight you will assume they are siblings. It can be otherwise called Friends bond. It exist between people who share common interest, values and activities. The interesting fact about Philia is that it can be freely chosen.

3) EROS :- HMMMM! This is love in the sense of "being in love" . You got that so quick i guess. smiles!
LEWIS define the Erotic bond as " being in love or loving someone as opposed to the raw sexuality of what he called Venus"

4) AGAPE :- My heart beats at the sound of this word. Agape is simply GODS unconditional Love for Mankind.

So now the thought of figuring out what to call what you call love is all over you right?

These Four loves are all fantastic but Agape is the greatest of all.

Having shared an insight into the four loves, i find it compelling to follow suit on the constituents of Love.

To look nice in the morning while going to work you must wear nice clothing's, make over for ladies, etc. All those things (clothes, make over materials) are the constituents of looking nice.

So does love has its own constituents. They are;

- PASSION

-INTIMACY

-COMMITMENT

All three constituents mentioned here dictates what kind of love you have.

What then is PASSION?

WHAT IS INTIMACY all about?

What is COMMITMENT?
