SACRIFICE

We live in a generation that is hinged on two pillars. And most times we are left hanging on which one to stand on.

Let’s take this story-line for instance.

Tomi and Bimpe are very good friends. They met in their first year on campus. Since then, their friendship has grown and now they are like sisters who once shared the same womb for nine months. Although, they periodically have heated argument, now a norm between them on some seemingly petty issues as Bimpe likes to address them when she is asked by her friends.

Tomi is a slim lady and about 5ft tall. She is a little bit fair and very beautiful too.
She has a baby face that got her a popular nickname amongst her friends "BABY-FACE". Tomi is quite a lovable person that even spending less than five minutes with her, you would love her personality. She is open but sometimes annoying.

Bimpe is a young lady in her early twenties. She is also beautiful and lovable. She loves wearing clothes that tightly fits her body that helps to reveal her hips. She refers to her hips as one of her adorable assets.

Bimpe and Tomi are roommates and this is their final year. It’s been a busy semester for the duo, Tomi however engages herself in some extracurricular activities that fascinates her. She has ceaselessly tried to answer some life transforming questions that life would pose to her upon graduation. And one of those answers requires her to get some skills. Tomi loves cooking different kind of meals. To further her love for food, she decided to volunteer at a popular restaurant around school. So after the day's work, instead of going back to the hostel, she would simply drop by to help them with one or two things at the restaurant. And in the process over time, she acquired some very important skills that improved her cooking prowess.

Bimpe is an internet savvy person. She has a lot of followers on Instagram and enjoys lots of likes on Facebook. So, most times, she is more concerned about how to buy the new clothes in town and check in to her favorite studio to take new shots to upload on her social media page. She is so passionate about fashion. And even in school, she is one of the top notch models.

Tomi shared her idea of volunteering at the restaurant with Bimpe, it didn't look attractive to Bimpe, and she rebuked her for wasting her modelling features. "Good looks and good height, it’s all you need to be a successful model she yelled. And moreover, Tomi remember the last time I uploaded your picture on my page it got a massive number of likes" she said.

Tomi followed her dreams, graduated, served and now owns a big eatery at the Federal capital territory of Nigeria. Bimpe also followed her dreams, graduated, served and now one of the celebrated models in the country.

The point in this story is that, these days we are always between two options: 1) pleasing people 2) Following our dreams in other to derive a sense of fulfilment.

Many youths have proven over time to lack the gut to do the latter, and therefore prefer the former. The truth is that following your dreams is the only sure route to fulfilment. And Fulfilment, should be the one of the most important things we seek while still on this side of eternity.

Just make sure you dont allow yourself to be trapped in trying to impress people who after giving you the likes on social media cares less about how you get the next meal. We should deliberately be more concerned about those very things that gives us that sense of fulfilment we ultimately desire every step along the way.

With that sense of fulfilment, life is worth living. Make your life count. And let pleasing people be the sacrifice to be paid for fulfilment.

I am Agboola Biyi Micheal a BLESSING to my GENERATION, and an ASSET to NATIONS.
